A two-bedroom house on the fringe of the Orange CBD has more than doubled in value after a renovation that has seen it transformed from a well-loved, outdated property into a modern family home with a TV room and office.
The house at 17 Hamer Street last sold in 2020 for $540,000 according to realestate.com.au.
Photos from that time show an old property crying out for an update.
Buyers were clearly not bothered about old carpet, old-fashioned furniture and the lion statues greeting visitors at the entrance to the home.
What this property - Rose Hill - had was age and location. The CBD was a leisurely stroll away, and Cook Park right over the road.
The listing states that the home was renovated in October 2021.
The carpet, which may have been laid when Cop Shop was airing, had been ripped up, and the floorboards underneath again allowed to breathe.
Gone were the flimsy curtains, replaced by plantation shutters.

The whole joint was painted, and the front of the house was tidied up. The lions didn't survive the update, a hedge running along the home's front facade was planted, and rather than being hidden behind a tree, the front patio was exposed to add symmetry to the whole picture.
The new kitchen has stone bench tops and Fisher & Paykel appliances.
The home has ducted heating and cooling, a gas fireplace in the living area and plantation shutters throughout.
The property is on the market for $1.29 million.
