Rare opportunity as 140-year-old Orange CBD apartment put up for sale

Standalone CBD apartments are rarely made available for sale in Orange.
The market is what agents might describe as "tightly held", with most of the dwellings attached to shops below on Summer Street. You want the apartment, you buy the whole building. Even then, they don't come up for sale too often.
A 142-year-old one-bedroom apartment in one of the city's most striking buildings, on Anson Street, has been listed.
Opposite Centrelink and adjacent to Orange City Centre, 8/182 Anson Street is near the roundabout on the corner of Anson and Kite streets.
It's small, but perfectly formed.
The building, Wyoming Court (circa 1880) is on three levels, with external steps from street level leading down to a basement, and up to a first floor. The apartment is reached by an internal staircase.
Features include a bay window, polished timber flooring, three-metre-high ceilings throughout, ducted reverse cycle air-conditioning, gas log fireplace and dedicated off street car space at the rear of the building.
Agent Brad Randahl from Orange Real Estate told The Orange News Examiner that the property had formerly been a hairdressing salon, before the current owner successfully applied to council to have the apartment rezoned as residential. It has since been used for casual accommodation.
Of the parties who had been taken through the property, one was considering it for use as an office and another as short-term accommodation.
The price guide is $680,000 to $710,000.
