Pursuit ends in Blue Mountains; 'Information suggests police officer discharged a firearm'

A police pursuit that began in Lalor Park in Western Sydney about 9:30am Thursday has concluded during a "high-risk vehicle stop" on the Great Western Highway near Katoomba.


A man has been arrested in the Blue Mountains.


An initial report from police stated that "Information from police involved in the operation suggests a police officer has discharged a firearm. No injuries have been reported".

"As the operation is ongoing motorists are urged to take caution of increased police activity in the area."





At 11.30am police said "the operation activity is in the Blue Mountains heading west".


About 11.40am (Thursday July 13, 2023) specialist operatives from the Tactical Operations Unit conducted a high-risk vehicle stop on the Great Western Highway, Katoomba, near Woodlands Road, police said.


"The black Holden Commodore was brought to a stop and the male driver was arrested."
