"Our office has been the subject of a phishing/hacking scam. Please do not open the link and delete immediately."
This is the warning emailed to clients of a legal firm in Orange on Tuesday morning after the business was hacked.
Lawyers Messenger & Messenger on Lords Place near the CBD say they have been the victim of a phishing scam, which resulted in people on the company's email database being sent phishing emails.
"Our office has been the subject of a phishing/hacking scam," read the warning letter.
"If you have received an email from any email [address] ending in @messengerlaw.com.au (including “communicationsteam@messengerlaw.com.au” or “office@messengerlaw.com.au”) purporting to attach a link to a document titled “FAX_20220528_1653729469” or similar, please do not open the link and delete the email immediately."

The business was flooded with calls on Tuesday morning from people who had received the email but were concerned about clicking on the link.
Disclaimer: I used the services of Messenger & Messenger once a few years ago and received one of the phishing emails on Tuesday. The email address appeared legitimate and I clicked on the link from my phone. It asked for details and at that point I closed the link and phoned Messenger & Messenger. If you have concerns about receiving the email you can contact the business on 6361 3388.
