One dead after truck crashes and bursts into flames near Wellington; Mitchell Highway closed

A driver has died this morning (Thursday August 24, 2023) after his truck left the road, crashed and caught alight.
No other vehicles were involved.
"About 4.20am emergency services were called to the Mitchell Highway, Neurea, south of Wellington, after a truck left the road and crashed before catching alight, trapping the driver," NSW Police said.
"Fire & Rescue NSW and RFS attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the driver, a man aged in his 30s, was declared deceased." A crime scene has been established by officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District, and the highway has been closed in both directions with local traffic diversions in place. An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Diversions
Molong to Wellington - Mitchell Highway between Banjo Paterson Way and Burrendong Way
Southbound (from Wellington) - Burrendong Way to Orange.
Northbound (from Molong) - Banjo Patterson Way to Yeoval, then Renshaw McGirr Way and Showground Rd to return to Mitchell Hwy at Wellington.
