New market in Orange opens Saturday morning

November 4, 2022

By David Fitzsimons

A weekly market with a special twist will launch on Saturday (November 5, 2022) at 7am.

The Orange Producers Garage Sale will be in the courtyard of a property next door to Bills Beans East Orange café on the corner of McLachlan and Summer streets.

One of the organisers Edlyn Lockwood said it was not aimed at tourists from Sydney or elsewhere, but the people of Orange.

There will also be Second Mouse Cheese Co, Fourjay Farms’ hazelnuts, garlic and flowers.

Lockwood said other stallholders were welcome to join the markets for future events.

She said they expected to be selling in-season cherries in December and a range of stone fruit in the future.

The markets are open from 7am-1pm, and Lockwood said they planned to have sufficient stock available to trade for all six hours.

“We’re just trying to make it as local for the community as we can,” she said. “The whole community.”

The opening day will see five stallholders.

She said there would be two stallholders selling fruit and vegetables, with one of them offering organic produce.
