Construction on the city's latest fast food franchise is about to begin.

The Guzman Y Gomez Mexican Kitchen franchise received planning approval from Orange City Council in March.

It is expected the project will take several months before it is ready for the first line up of vehicles in its drive-through lane off Endsleigh Avenue.

The story revealing the new operation remains one of the best read stories on our website, confirming the community’s interest in fast food.

The Guzman Y Gomez website says the franchise for the Orange site is still available. It will compete with Taco Bell and Zambrero for the Mexican food dollar.

Meanwhile work is also underway for the remodelling of the former Holden car dealership across the road.

10 burritos please.

That will become a car dealership for a different brand.

It is understood the site has been bought by an existing Orange vehicle group.

While the new car brand has not been revealed The Orange News Examiner recently spotted about 10 new Mazdas on the site.
