It's been a considerable nuisance for nearby residents, but it will soon be over.

On Wednesday afternoon workers were attending to the final stages of construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Dalton and Clinton streets.

"Weather permitting, contractors are expected to be in Orange later this week to carry out line

marking on the new roundabout at Dalton and Clinton streets, as well as Coronation Drive,

Woodward Street and the recently resurfaced roundabout at Dalton and Peisley streets," Orange City Council said.

Footpath, traffic islands and the centre garden have been completed, with contractors starting on the final layers of hot mix asphalt on July 24.

The Orange News Examiner reported last month on $70,000 worth of vandalism to construction equipment at the site.

Meanwhile, council said contractors "are making progress on the upgrade of Clergate Road. This week crews will be working on the base gravel layers of the road. Crews will also begin installing concrete kerbs and gutters".

Council crews are also working on grading unsealed rural roads in the district this week. Grading work will occur in Dane Lane and other roads in the area around Huntley Road.
